How can I obtain a licence or certificate for iDIN?

How do I know if I need a certificate or licence?
If you wish to act as an Issuer or Acquirer, you must obtain a licence to perform these roles. If you wish to act as a DISP, you must obtain a certificate to perform this role. For more information about applying for a Licence or Certificate Agreement, please fill in the Contact Form. We will then inform you further about the procedure to be followed.

What conditions do I have to meet in order to obtain a licence or certificate?
Your organisation qualifies if you meet the Acceptance Regulations specified for the role (Issuer, Acquirer or DISP) your organisation wants to undertake. For more information, you may send us your question or comment via our Contact Form.

Is iDIN really secure?
iDIN is based on online banking and uses the same security techniques. This means that iDIN is just as secure as online banking.

How long does it take to obtain a certificate or licence?
To obtain a licence or certificate, the applicant must go through a certification process. The duration of this process varies per role and per applicant. In consultation with us, the applicant will draw up a schedule for the entire process. Based on past experience, the speed with which this process is completed is usually determined by the applicant.

Am I a DISP if I only manage customer data on behalf of the merchant?
No, in this case you do not need to obtain a certificate. Naturally however, the privacy legislation remains fully effective, but this is outside the scope of the iDIN Scheme.

Am I a DISP if I only pass on encrypted data to the merchant?
No, in this case you are not a DISP. You do not need to obtain a certificate.

What does iDIN cost for organisations?
Banks and DISPs are free to determine the costs they charge for iDIN. Each bank has its own pricing policy.

Is there any promotional material available for iDIN?
Yes, various logos are available. You may request these via the form provided on the ‘Request Documentation’ page.

What does the name iDIN mean?
The ‘iD’ stands for ‘iDentification’ and ‘IN’ stands for ‘logIN’. This is because, with iDIN, you can identify yourself online and use this for logging into websites of businesses and institutions.
